COVID-19 has created unsurmountable pressure on the world. Healthcare workers are at the center of it. We wanted to “check-in” with some of our front-line workers. Becky Thompson, hospice aide, was eager to share her experience, and encouragement.

Q&A with Becky Thompson, Hospice Aide.

Absolute: Becky, so much has happened in the last few weeks in the wake of COVID-19. Tell us - how are you staying encouraged through it all?

Becky: I’m staying encouraged by the strength of our team leaders and my local NewPointe Community Church. For instance, every day we are updated by the Director of Operations of the newest information we need to know, and every morning Pastor Dwight Mason sends us an encouraging scripture to think about and act on daily through Facebook.

A: Every bad situation has a silver lining. Have you uncovered any silver linings through this crisis?

B: For me, the silver lining is knowing we will get through this as a team, and as a nation with the strength of our Lord, and praying daily. I get messages of encouragement from my case manager - last week when I wanted to give up she told me simply “Keep On Keeping On!”

A: What’s your message of encouragement to other people?

Becky: My message to everyone is simple, call or FaceTime your loved ones - check on them, and make sure you tell them “I love you!”
