Olivia Gutbrod is an administrative assistant with Absolute Home Health in North Canton. She’s been with our team for nine months and is the employee spotlight of the month. Before joining our team, Olivia did community mental health and residential treatment work. She obtained her bachelor’s in social work from Akron University. Find out why mental health is one of her passions, the craziest thing she has ever done, and even more below.

Who Inspires You?:
My father. I've always been close with him, and I admire his strength to overcome adversity and his drive to serve God in the trenches.

What’s the last book you read?:
(Un)qualified by Steven Furtick - highly recommend!

What are you passionate about?:
The importance of mental health awareness. It's vital to diminish the stigma surrounding mental health and the need for people to find ways to cope, regulate their emotions, and express themselves. Mental health plays such a crucial role in the quality of each individual's life and the ability to find passion, purpose, and solid relationships. Being aware of how your brokenness or trauma, or simply your family dynamics affect you has always been something that fascinates and motivates me.

What’s your favorite movie?:
Father of the Bride. As I've already mentioned I'm super close to my dad - so this movie has always tugged at my heart a little more than others. And, I love Steve Martin!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done? (Careful. Don’t incriminate yourself.):
I moved to Norway spontaneously with no job lined up and minimal savings. I ended up becoming a nanny to a family who wanted to move to the US (so they wanted someone who spoke English). I stayed abroad for about 10 months before I decided I wanted to come back and finish my Bachelor’s degree. Miss it there every day! Fun fact: I'm a dual citizen (Norwegian-American, if you weren't able to put two and two together there!)

What three individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?:

  • Steven Furtick - His ability to bring God's word is something that resonates deeply with me. He's one of the only pastors I've ever felt God working through when he gives his sermons. I could listen to him speak about Jesus all day (or dinner, in this instance!)

  • Lauren Conrad - She's just an upstanding woman in our society! I love the way she carries herself and the way she empowers women - not to mention her clothes are adorable (and so is her little family!)

  • Kevin Love - Well, a.) I LOVE the Cavs - some might call me obsessed (like, I MAY have cried the one time I sat courtside....) and b.) I respect and appreciate how he advocates for mental health awareness - I think it is wonderful to see a male athlete stand up and be a role model for something like that, and be a voice for young men (and people in general). His game on the court has gotten a bit sloppy the last year or two, but I give him props for having the courage to be vulnerable - and I'm sort of hoping if I invite him to dinner, he will get me courtside seats again!

Wasn’t it amazing to get to know, Olivia?! We think so – as she is a valued addition to our home health team. Cheers, Olivia!
